C U S T O M W O R K

If you’re looking for an illustration that can be uniquely yours, to mark an occasion or celebrate a special event or person, then I would be delighted to help you!

I have been creating bespoke work for clients since I began my business in 2015, including house portraits, custom wedding cards, illustrations for poems, party invitations, business assets such as logos and labels and more. If you can envision it and describe it to me - I can draw it for you. The price of a custom piece depends on its use (personal or commercial), the size of the project and the level of detail required. Please see below for my main offerings and their pricing structures; if your idea doesn’t fit one of these categories - do not worry, get in touch and we’ll work through it together.

If you’re interested in booking some custom work then please email me and we can have a chat about your idea!

Thanks, Avi xx

House Portraits

These pieces are snapshots of your home - you choose which spaces are the most important, and I put them into a cross-sectional piece for you. I can draw your important people (and pets!) wherever you want them, in whatever pose and outfit you like! Click here to see the gallery.

What is the process?

We arrange a time for me to visit your home. On my visit I will bring a sketchbook, and you show me around, and emphasise which spaces you’d like included. I will draw a loose sketch of how I think the house should be cross-sectioned, and will go through it with you, making sure all parties are happy with the plan. Then I will nip back around the house and take photos of all the spaces I need. We will have another chat about the family members to be included, and I will give you a checklist of photos to send me so I can accurately capture the character and style of those important people. I will do the work from my studio, and send you updates.

How much does it cost?

Here is my typical pricing for home portraiture, mostly dependent on the size and detail of the piece:

A4 piece ~ 1 - 2 rooms* ...………… £400 - £600
A3 piece ~ up to 5 rooms ..………. £600 - £1500
A2 piece ~ up to 10 rooms ...……. £1500 - £3000

Additional notes:

'Room' is a word to describe a mini scene within the portrait; gardens, patios, balconies, outdoor areas are included in the room count, and can be seen as 1 or 2 rooms depending on size. Smaller drawings of big houses with many scenes will cost more, as they require the same work and planning as a big piece. A bigger drawing of a more simple home will cost less. These options require discussion to reach a quote.

Wedding Stationery

In the past I have designed and formatted invitations, name place cards, order of the day and seating signage for clients. I have experience sourcing the printing/suppliers for wedding stationery. I have also created proposal pieces for clients to keep as momentos, and custom portraiture of newly-weds based on wedding photos after the event. Click here to see some examples.

This type of bespoke work is so diverse and unique that it is not simple to give an idea of quote before we have a chat. The way I price work of this nature is by charging an hourly fee - I have two rates: one for any illustrative work (drawing and painting) and one for admin and research (e.g. for finding references, digital formatting, sourcing suppliers for the production of the stationery etc).

Illustrative rate per hour….£25 (VAT included)
Administrative rate per hour….£12.50 (VAT included)

The client covers the cost of the printing and postage of the stationery. The client keeps all original illustrations created for the project.

Additional Information

Quoting & Payment

Once you've decided you'd like to go ahead with a piece and we've agreed on a price, the quote is paid in 3 amounts. First, an immediate 10% deposit is paid to cover my time for the draft and to secure your piece in my waitlist queue. Then when your piece becomes first priority the next 40% is paid, followed by the final 50% after I send you a photo of the completed piece. Then we arrange a time for you to collect your piece, or for the piece to be posted to you. The client covers the cost of postage.

Timeframe

I have a continuous list of private work, so I cannot specify how immediately I can set to work on a new piece. However, when a piece becomes my first priority it is typically completed within a month.

International Orders

I am more than happy to work on bespoke pieces for international clients - it just takes a little more communication and awareness of time/scheduling. For house portraits the outcome is improved by us having a video call to show me around your home, and any architectural plans or blueprints you have will also come in very handy! It will also be required for you to take the photos needed for me to paint all the details into your piece.

Reference Material

Often photos are necessary for capturing details and likenesses. Photos can be sent by email for family portraits and other simple compositions. Custom home or business portraits require a (complimentary) visit so that I can take the photos I need to plan and complete the piece. Reference material is deleted after finishing a piece.
